Early childhood in the 21st century: Children’s Right to Live, Play, Explore and Learn about the World Around Them

——The 64th OMEP World Assembly and Congress was held in Brazil

The 64th OMEP World Assembly and Congress was held in Federal University of Campina Grande,Brazil from July 17 to 21, 2012 .Preschool educational experts from all over the world got together and discussed global issues on the development of the pre-school education. Mrs. Ingrid, the World President of the OMEP and Professor in the University of Gothenburg, attended the conference and addressed. The following issues were in depth communicated and discussed in the meeting : game as an importantquality evaluation index of pre-school education ;the Crisis in Early Education; literacy and numeracy teaching in pre-school; research on 0 ~ 3 years old baby ; children's attachment relationship and language communication; the harm of children's aggressive behavior; the natural environment、sufficient outdoor activities and the development of children;construction of children’s park in community, etc.

In this meeting, Chinese representatives used videos and word materials to introduce the development of Chinese preschool education in the recent years and express the willingness to host the next OMEP annual conference. Finally, Shanghai was awarded the 65thOMEP World Assembly and Congress. In July, 2013, Shanghai will open arms to welcome counterparts all over the world.
